Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as Dreamville Records' the first artist of female gender on Dreamville Records by J. Cole. In October 2016 Ari Lennox dropped her Pho EP. It was here that she was recognized. Her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet back in 2012 after she launched her debut mixtape called Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox continued posting her songs online, as well as her own single Bound. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes as well as from Sweat It Out, on the 21st of July, 2015. Later that year her music began to circulate throughout the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some references for Rihanna. On the 8th of December, it was announced that she was contracted to Dreamville Records. Backseat was her contribution to the Revenge of the Dreamers II album. She released Pho, her debut album on October 21, 2016. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening performer on behalf of J. Cole on his track Change in 2017 and also performed on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018 she went on to be a guest on two songs with her labelmates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single, Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on the 16th of July in 2018, which was released on July 16th, 2018. A music video then released in September. Then on the 9th of November 2018, she released another two singles called 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). In November 2013, she released her debut album No One, and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a track she sang with Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on 16 November. It was then released as a single on its own in February 2019 to coincide with her debut album. This track, which was launched with a music video posted on YouTube 20 February 2019 has been watched over three million times over the first 7 days. In December of 2018, she was part of the From East Atlanta With Love Tour featuring 6LACK.
