Kim Delaney is an American actor who is most well-known for her role as Detective Diane Russell in ABCs series NYPD Blue for which she received an Emmy Award. Kim Delaney has been renowned as the character Detective Diane Russell in ABC's series NYPD Blue. The actress also starred on the drama show All My Children Philly, CSI: Miami, and Army Wives. Delaney was the sole daughter of the United Auto Workers executive and his wife, a household worker. Her childhood was spent in a family that included four brothers. Although she was a child with a goal of becoming journalist, it wasn't until her high school years that she began modeling. Following her move from New York City and gaining experience as a commercial model and commercials in New York did she achieve her dream of becoming aspiring court reporters. She starred in 1981 as an innocent teenager in the film All My Children. Delaney's career has been filled with a variety of television shows and dramas. As with her professional career however, her private life has not been easy or prosperous. The skilled actor been battling alcoholism and she has experienced two marriages that failed. The actress lost custody of her son in 2005.
